Our Story

A Family Run Facility in Murillo, Ontario Since 2015 

Double L Riding Stables has been a labour of love. Our passion for horses started 15 years ago when my son was struggling with growing up with ASD. He was introduced to horses at the age of 15 and he fell in love with our first horse Shiloh. He thrived working with horses and always felt at peace when he was with his horse.

Fast forward to 6 years ago. We built our little ranch together and brought our horses’ home. That same year our family experienced a workplace injury and not to long after my husband was diagnosed with PTSD. He had never been around horses much before I brought them home to live. We found that the horses gave him a reason to get up and go. He found that being around them kept him calm and he also found a sense of peace when with them. This is how the idea for Double L Riding Stables came to be. Horses have given us a sense of peace and we want to bring that to our community so they can find themselves, heal and find their path in life.

Our princess is Miss Rosebud. She is a spicy Sorrel Paint Quarter Horse cross.  Mr. Major is our big boy around the ranch.  This gentle giant is a Percheron Andalusian cross that stands 17.2 hands.  A couple of chin scratches and he melts in your hand. 3 more horses joining the heard in September can’t wait.
